My name is Kirstie Hamilton-Campbell

I first sat on a horse before I could walk, and have loved it ever since. I was very lucky to have my first pony, when I was four years old. He was a 11.1hh Wesh Section A pony, called Taffy also aged 4. We had great success in lead rein pony and First Ridden classes. At the same time I was also riding and competing for Exton Stud, with prolific success. For my second pony, when I was 7, we found the most amazing yet slightly "quirky" 12.2hh pony. He was meant to be New Forest, but think there could have been a dash of something else! Moonstone, was incredibly talented for jumping and generally going fast!! We qualified for the Prince Phillip Cup and notoriously did well in any chase me charlie classes. We had been known to clear 5' fences! Aged 14, I was bought my first ex-racehorse, called Buster. He had a hole in his tendon and fresh off the racetrack, also bought for not a lot including all his tack and rugs. He was rehabbed and retrained to be a dressage horse and sold to a lovely lady who enjoyed their time together in the white boards. This was another taste of rehabilitation, which has been the main ethos of my riding career. We bought many ex racehorses over the years, all went on to have great homes, from dressage, showjumping, allrounders to eventing.

I went to Sparsholt College and studied First Diploma and National Certificate in Horse Management, also achieving my BHS Exams. While doing this course, we did all the riding at the Naval Base, HMS Dryad, under the most amazing eye of Aart Nordijk. Once finished at college, I went into the racing industry. In this time I worked for a trainer, riding and working the horses and attending race meetings. This gave me the ability to stick unplanned moves! Nobody wants to kiss sand at speed! I also worked at a stud and rehabilitation yard. This role gave me an enormous amount if experience backing youngsters, foaling and more rehabilitation work.

From 2008, I worked for my parents at their yard in Surrey. This was where I had my first experience riding a dressage horse. His name was Otis and he was to become my best friend throughout our career. I owe this horse so much, and for the love I now have for dressage. Since this time, I have been to the Nationals on different horses. All have meant so much to me, as they all came with their differing issues and all overcame them, to showcase their individual talents. I have managed to get an ex showjumper and homebred up to PSG and been lucky to ride two of my Mum's Grand Prix schoolmasters, to learn the tricks!

With time off for having my child in 2012, then major surgery at the end of 2019, I have a deep understanding of physical limitations and how to get around them. To get the best out of your own body and the horses, to be able to work as a team. The experiences I have gained have given me a unique perspective when it comes to training. Overcoming many physical and mental blocks to find the way around them, with the right tools and techniques.

I'm now competing my own horses, while also freelance riding and coaching other riders on their own horses, in dressage and showjumping.
